ImPACT Concussion Management:

FREE Baseline Testing at The Reading Hospital Medical Group - Sports Medicine

What are the benefits of this test?

ImPACT testing establishes a baseline of normal brain function for an athlete before an injury occurs.  Baseline computer testing will assist experienced physicians manage your child if they should sustain a concussion.

Who should consider this test?
ImPACT testing is recommended for any athlete 12 and older, especially for those in contact sports.

What is involved in this test?
This is a computer test that takes approximately 45 minutes to complete and is designed to evaluate and document multiple aspects of an athlete's neurocognitive state including brain processing speed, memory, and visual motor skills.  The Baseline ImPACT test is used to establish a benchmark score when a player is in his or her non concussed or "normal" state.  It should be noted that this baseline test does not evaluate the subject for a concussion, identify past concussion(s), prevent future concussions, or determine if your child is predisposed to a concussion.  The result of the baseline test is used as a comparison tool to determine if your child can safely return to play following a subsequently incurred concussion.
